For Officals

Current referee pay rates:

1st year ref = $25 per game

2nd year and above ref:

Squirt game = $30

PeeWee game = $35

Bantam game = $40

Playdowns and State tournament game rates are set each year by WAHA.

If you may choose to work at other rinks your pay rate is subject to their in house rates.

ANNUAL OFFICIATING MEMBERSHIP EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

LEVEL 1 REFEREE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Submit online Officiating Membership application and fee ($75.00) + $12 Wisconsin Hockey Official's Registration. (done at the same time)
2. Complete a L1 officiating classroom seminar sanctioned by USA Hockey
3. Complete L1 Online Education Module training
4. Complete online L1 Playing Rules Exercise
5. Complete SafeSport training (if 2009 Birth Year, or older)
6. Complete and maintain a USA Hockey sanctioned NCSI Background Screen if 18(+) years old on May 1, 2026.

LEVEL 2 REFEREE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must have complete Level 1 membership within the last two seasons
2. Submit online L2 Officiating Membership application and fee ($135.00) + $12 Wisconsin Hockey Official's Registration. (done at the same time)
3. Complete a L2 officiating classroom seminar sanctioned by USA Hockey
4. Complete L2 Online Education Module training
5. Complete online L2 Playing Rules Exercise
6. Complete SafeSport training (if 2009 Birth Year, or older)
7. Complete and maintain a USA Hockey sanctioned NCSI Background Screen if 18(+) years old on May 1, 2026.

LEVEL 3 REFEREE REQUIREMENTS:  

1. Must have complete Level 2 (or higher) membership during previous season
2. Submit online L3 Officiating Membership application and fee ($135.00) + $12 Wisconsin Hockey Official's Registration. (done at the same time)
3. Complete a L3 officiating classroom seminar sanctioned by USA Hockey
4. Complete L3 Online Education Module training
5. Complete online L3 Playing Rules Exercise
6. Complete SafeSport training (if 2009 Birth Year, or older)
7. Complete and maintain a USA Hockey sanctioned NCSI Background Screen if 18(+) years old on May 1, 2026.

4. Complete L4 Online Education Module training
5. Complete online L4 Playing Rules Exercise

7. Complete and maintain a USA Hockey sanctioned NCSI Background Screen if 18(+) years old on May 1, 2026.
